Oh Allie

our cat, Allie had to see a vet right away today as when I went to trim up her nails I found that the last toe on the right front foot was, missing the nail. She had shown no previous signs so I don't know exactly when she hurt herself so only came across it doing the trimming. the foot did have a bad odor to it, but we couldn't smell it unless putting the foot close to our face. which we discovered when looking closely at the paw, I couldn't see, nor feel a nail. was no blood either.

so after calling around every vet in town (most wanted us to wait til monday and they'd gladly make room for us) we found a place that would take us. I may actually be switching vets because I liked they're attitudes plus they're the only vet I've ever come across that has the waiting room split in two, one side for cats and other for dogs. you have to make sure you enter the right door when you go to their building.

after a lookover, the vet said it was VERY good we brought her in and didn't wait until monday. somehow allie did manage to rip her entire nail off and expose the bone. the stink was caused by infection. so she's on some strong medicine, and the vet just told us the nail would grow back, but if it starts growing in a funky direction then he would suggest declawing that one toe.

other than maybe trying to jump up where she knows she shouldn't (like our bedroom window which is somewhat high up) and missing the mark and ripping her nail off that way, i dont know how she could have done it. her nails aren't kept long, and she's not much of a chair scratcher. the vet did say it a freaky rare thing that a cat, especially an indoor one, would tear out their nail, usually if anything they split nails, not personally declaw themselves.

so now i just get to have the fun of trying to get that medicine down her throat. she of course, did not appreciate it one bit. lol
