Fighting for her life

Postby Violet » 31 December 2009, 11:07 AM

So..I am a bad neglectful owner. And now am fighting for Peanuts life. I hadn't posted anything because..well..I just hadn't. ANyways..Peanuts has a SCREAMING UTI. Like, by the time I realized she was sick..it did not look good. I am still not sure how it is going to go. I won't go into details as to how bad it has been. But suffice it to say it has not been an attractive fight. Amazingly she has allowed me to pill her and sub q her and force feed her. Well..we had given up on Monday...decided we were going to pts on Tuesday..but after we made our decision..Peanuts started eating. I mean REALLY eating. For the first time in about two weeks. Which means the antibiotics are staying down better because she is not taking them on a full tummy. And today she is mad enough she wants out of the crate she has been living in for over a week.

This cat has driven me to near madness over the last almost two years. But..honest truth..i have come to love the little snot. Please keep ehr in your thoughts.

We have seen many instances that prove how resilient cats can be.... We have a 15 pound male maine coone mix I brought home as a 6 week old ball of fur, that my wife didn't think would make the night.... He was anemic, due to having an entire civilization of fleas that had called him home.....

Peanut is in our thoughts..... Fight on kitty

Peanuts is no worse..but no better either..we are frustrated. She gets up, she eats, she drinks, she wants attention. *sighs* hanging up meds to something stronger and giving another go round. Damn cat. Just get BETTER already!

Well..as of yesterday, Peanuts is FINALLY out of her kitty condo and back with the family. She is pretty nervous since she has been confined for SO very long. I cannot tell you how many times we nearly gave up. BUT..she is at a healthy weight, no sign of infection, peeing normal, no straining..i THINK we finally did it! Her bloodwork is still a touch not completely normal but it's no longer scary, either. We are doing one more round of antibiotics just to make sure her system is completely clear of infection BUT..I think we finally did it!!!

Vi may I ask what antibiotic she is on... we use Zithromax for things like this and I am just wondering if it is the same sort of thought where you are...thanks

She is on Zithromax. But has been on amoxi and cephalaxin and two others. It has been one hell of a fight and i only didn't give up because SHE didn't. There was awhile there I really thought we were going to lose her. She was down to nothing but skin and bones. But she is getting back to her saucy self. Even slapped a couple of dogs today and started a pat with Tiger Lilly.
