10 Dobermans Stolen From Rescue in TN

"Tammara Josslyn in Johnson City TN called frantic. Someone just broke into her Doggie Day care and stole 10 of her Dobermans. Some were her personal dogs, and some were rescue dogs. Her niece was watching over the place and confronted the men, one of them dropped the dog he was carrying and ran after her, if I understood correctly she was cut before managing to get away. Not all of the dogs were microchipped yet and not all of them were spayed or neutered due to medical reasons and their stage of recovery. Poor little Blush, the girl that was thrown off the bridge, who was still recovering from her ordeal was stolen.
Yesterday a man stopped by asking her about buying one of the dogs. She said he seemed shady and they told him none were for sale. They suspect he is the one that did this horrible thing. She asked for me to get the word out to everyone that I knew. Please spread the word and let’s pray that these babies will be found and returned safely. They can be seen at her Petfinder site Canine Hope All Breed Rescue, Johnson City, TN

Please contact Tammara at caninehoperescue@ comcast.netor call her 423 773 8113 immediately if you see anyone suspicious with these dobes or know where they are. 10 dobes are not easy to hide and many of them are still in need of medical care!!"

Here is the link to this mornings news broadcast in TN.....this is just beyond horrific, why would anyone do this?

If there is anything you can do to help, please do so and spread the word. One of the dobes that was stolen is a young dobergirl who had been thrown off a bridge and has been recovering.. .just unbelieveable that people would do this!!

Monitor Craigslists and shelters please.

Hello all,
At 3:30 am this morning, two men broke into one of our Pilots N Paws rescue members' Doggie Care Center in Johnson City, TN. This is where our friend and fellow rescue person, Tammara Josselyn, keeps all the rescue animals she takes in, nurses back to health, and finds loving homes for.

www.caninehoperescue.org

Three of the dogs taken were personal pets. The men stole a total of 14 dogs: 12 rescue Dobermans in various stages of care, one Lab, one Min-Pin and one mixed breed, though that one was located in the woods behind the center. One of the Dobermans needs pancreas meds to be able to digest any food; one of the younger females was recovering from someone tossing her off a bridge; another dog has been blind since birth, and the list goes on.

Her niece lives in an apartment above the center and when the dogs would not stop barking, she came down to investigate. One of the men dropped the dog and came after her with a knife and cut her side. She is OK, just needed some sutures, but emotionally distraught.

Early in the day, a man came in asking if she sold Dobermans. She told him, "No, this is a rescue," and if he was interested, please fill out an adoption form. They believe he was casing the place.

Please spread the word to your friends, your group lists, everywhere you can. Here is the email and phone contact for Canine Hope Rescue, though, please use discretion when contacting them as I imagine they are being inundated with emails and phone calls.

Please contact Tammara at caninehoperescue@comcast.net or call her at 423.773.8113 immediately if you have any information or contacts who can assist.

Tammara needs our help; she is devastated and only wants these dogs back. Through our vast network, I am hopeful we can do just that.

Thank you, in advance.

Update 01/20/2010
Police report that Ashli Thomas, 24, of Newbern Drive, Johnson City has been arrested for filing a false police report.

Thomas originally told police and news reporters that she was stabbed by someone who dog-napped 12 dogs being housed at the Cool School for Dogs on Market Street.

According to the Johnson City Police, Thomas admitted she “made the story up because she had left the dogs unattended and had not been caring for the dogs properly.“

The owners of the business, Brad and Tamara Josselyn, along with Thomas, have been charged with eight counts of animal cruelty.

Thomas is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond. She will appear in court tomorrow.

this was just added to the story... I am outraged and very disappointed in humanity right now. given that one was found behind the property i am wondering if she didn't dump them in the woods or something.

"Brad Josselyn told 11 Connects he is totally surprised to learn his niece made up the story. He says he has no idea where the allegedly stolen dogs might be.

Police say the dogs could’ve been sold, killed, or may not have existed in the first place. They are still investigating what happened to them."
